Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants on NAVIM Marine Equipments
By PANOLINNavalimpianti Tecnimpianti Group (NAVIM) has always been committed to safeguarding the environment and achieving sustainable development, in compliance with local laws and international regulations, by promoting environmentally conscious design and the use of renewable and cost-effective technologies.
The new Vessel General Permit (VGP2013) issued by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires that every ship operator navigating in or entering US waters must use environmentally acceptable lubricants (EAL) in all applications with oil-to-sea interface. As a consequence, the use of EALs has to be considered a methodology of prevention and reduction of environmental impact generated by a lack of attention by the operator, or an accidental lubricant spill caused by mechanical failure during normal operations.
