The Aboa Mare IGF Code advanced refresher course is designed for people who are responsible for LNG operations and need to renew their certification. The next Advanced Refresher course will take place on 12 December at Aboa Mare, Turku, Finland.
The course includes two parts: the mandatory IGF Basic Refresher, which is delivered as a 16-hour web-based module, and the IGF Advanced Refresher, delivered as an eight-hour on-site module. The web-based module can be completed at a time and place convenient for the attendee. However, participants must complete the web-based module before proceeding to the on-site module.
The course will cover STCW code amendments A-V/3-1 and A-V/3-2 for vessels that are subject to the IGF code. It fulfils Regulation V/3, paragraph 12 of the STCW Convention, as amended for people working on ships that are subject to the IGF code.
During the course, participants will learn:
- Basics of fuel physics and fuel properties
- Safe handling of cryogenic fuel (LNG)
- Operating and controlling IGF fuel systems
- Performing and monitoring operations on vessels, including bunkering
- Preventing environmental hazards
- Bunkering procedures
Upon completing the course, participants will
- Understand safety requirements of vessels under IGF code
- Be familiar with the basic construction of LNG systems
- Know how to lead work related to gas systems
- Be prepared to lead emergency situations
