IGF Code Advanced is a two day course covering requirements set by STCW A-V/3-2 for persons working in ships under IGF code.

The Advanced training course intends to provide an advanced training for masters, officers, and all personnel with immediate responsibility for the care and use of fuels and fuel systems on ships subject to the IGF code. Aboa Mare’s IGF Basic course is a prerequisite for the Aboa Mare IGF Advanced course.

Aboa Mare’s Advanced IGF Code courses comply with the requirements laid down in the International Convention on Standard of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW A-V/3-2).

IGF Code Advanced is a two-day course covering requirements set by STCW A-V/3-2 for persons working in ship under IGF code. This course is intended for crew members who have already completed the IGF-Basic training (including practical fire-fighting).

Upon completing training, the participant will

  • Understand requirements of fuel quality
  • Be familiar with ships gas system
  • Know how to lead work related to gas systems
  • Be prepared to lead emergency situations

The participant will learn:

  • The difference in gas quality between patches and their effect on systems
  • Function of gas storage and treatment systems
  • Demands of treatment systems, set by different storage systems
  • Function of gas feeds to systems
  • Function of engines using gas as fuel
  • Bunkering procedure
  • Preventing environmental hazards
