Aboa Mare offers comprehensive Basic and Advanced IGF Code training, including practical firefighting exercises. These courses are held on-site at Aboa Mare’s Training Centre in Turku, Finland, with firefighting training conducted by an approved training facility in Finland. Aboa Mare also provides online IGF Code Basic training, with on-site practical firefighting training.
These courses are intended for engine and deck ratings and officers working on ships powered by LNG or other low-flashpoint fuels, such as methanol. Additionally, shipping company personnel and authorities benefit from gaining a deep understanding of the operational demands and safety protocols associated with IGF Code compliance.
The IGF Code Basic training complies with the requirements laid down in the International Convention on Standard of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW A-V/3-1). IGF Code Advanced training complies with the requirements laid down in the International Convention on Standard of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW A-V/3-2).
Upon completing the IGF Code Basic training, the participant will:
- Understand safety requirements of vessels under IGF code
- Be familiar with basic operation of LNG systems
- Know how to ensure working safety onboard
- Be prepared to respond to emergency situations
Upon completing the IGF Code Advanced training, the participant will:
- Understand requirements of fuel quality
- be familiar with ships’ gas systems
- Have deeper understanding of work related to gas systems.
- Understand developments that can lead to emergency situations.
