Companies, already having great individual recognition in the market, are joining their expertise and skills to enable an additional opportunity for the combined solutions.

‘One-Stop-Shop’ integrated, sustainable, lean, and green propulsion solutions will combine STADT’s unique AC drive technology and Caterpillar’s advanced variable speed gensets to secure maximum performance.

The STADT AC VariGrid concept integrated with the Caterpillar Variable Speed Gensets secures lower fuel consumption and less emissions, reduced noise levels, and lower tear and wear leading to longer service and maintenance intervals.

The shipowners may benefit from a 30%-35% reduction in operating costs over a ship’s lifetime.

  • High propulsion efficiency and lower emissions: Caterpillar’s new upgraded engines, designed for methanol as a future fuel for dual fuel gensets, in combination with STADT’s electric propulsion technology, promise high propulsion efficiency, minimal fuel consumption, and significantly reduced emissions.
  • Silent and stealth operation: STADT’s patented Lean Propulsion technology ensures stealthly and silent operation and contributes to the lowest underwater radiated noise (URN). The STADT noise-free technology guarantees the elimination of electromagnetic interference (EMI, EMC and THD), which is a unique performance in the maritme industry.
  • Scalable solutions: The joined scope of supply will bring highly scalable IEP solutions to the market, ranging from 1MW to approximately 50MW of propulsion power, supporting low, medium, and high voltage AC-grid electric architectures.
  • Reliability and endurance: The combined expertise of Zeppelin Power Systems and STADT will ensure highly reliable, secure, redundant, and durable future propulsion systems, minimising undesirable stops and off-hire periods for any ship owner.
  • Cost-effective operations: The integrated solutions are designed for low maintenance and operational costs over any ship’s lifetime, providing shipowners with significant savings and possible extended warranties.

Together, Zeppelin Power Systems and STADT are poised to drive the maritime industry towards a more efficient, sustainable, and future-ready propulsion landscape.

Zeppelin Power Systems and STADT will also welcome everyone in person at the joint stand TOPDK-666 at DALO Industry Days from 21-22 August 2024 in Ballerup, Denmark. They will also be at stand 305 hall A4 at SMM from 3-6 September 2024 in Hamburg, Germany.

“Our collaboration marks a significant step forward in marine propulsion. By combining our expertise, we can deliver flexible, efficient, and environmentally friendly solutions that are future-proof and ready to meet future demands from the maritime industry,” said STADT CEO/STADT Naval AS Hallvard Slettevoll.

“Our partnership with STADT will provide the technology necessary to offer a new and future oriented electric propulsion concept, reducing CO₂ footprints and fuel costs, and providing operational flexibility for both newbuilds and future retrofits,” said Zeppelin Danmark A/S Power Systems general manager Lars Voigt Djelert.
