Completing a comprehensive evaluation process involving the foremost fleet management software companies, Wallenius Shipping has picked the market-leading BASSnet™ fleet management software to further improve its operations.

Being an innovation-driven and progressive shipping company, Wallenius Shipping chose to implement the integrated BASSnet suite on 29 of their ships and two international offices. Wallenius Shipping joins the BASSnet customer community along with shipping industry leaders like NYK, ‘K’ Line, CMA CGM, Hapag Lloyd, Wilhelmsen Ship Management, Stolt Tankers and Golar LNG.

The contract with Wallenius Shipping is the culmination of two years of collaboration between the shipping company and BASS to demonstrate the advantages of streamlining and automating ship management processes.

“In the run up to the contract award, we have through detailed demonstrations confirmed that the BASSnet range of solutions have the required capabilities for Wallenius to keep a strong focus on fleet performance, operational efficiency, environmental engagement as well as tight management of safety and risks. We are very pleased to have been through this comprehensive process with Wallenius and to get such a quality-conscious company as customer,” says BASS vice-president sales, Haakon Dalan.

As a frontrunner in the shipping industry since 1934, Wallenius is focused on keeping ahead of the game by adopting business methods that give their customers the best value that is currently possible. BASSnet fleet management solutions provide a proven business case for streamlining operations through IT innovations.

“A pro-active and forward thinking approach to ship management are main ingredients for companies to continuously improve fleet performance and service reliability. We believe Wallenius found the same traits evident with BASS too, in terms of our track record with existing customers, in the BASSnet solution itself, in BASS’s organization as well as in the perspective of how we work to continuously develop our software, organisation and service. This will be a fruitful partnership going forward,” says Per Upsaker, CEO and President of BASS.

Moving forward

BASS leverages on its combination of strong IT skills and domain knowledge of the shipping industry to continuously enhance its suite, recently by making it cloud and mobile ready.

As a result, BASS is growing its resources as well as the personal skill set of its team members, to cater for the rapidly increasing customer base.

“We are looking forward to the coming quarters, when more announcements will be made,” adds Per Upsaker.
