Paramarine, QinetiQ’s advanced ship and submersible design software, has been selected by the Ocean Engineering Center of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. It will be used to support the training of its students.
The Ocean Engineering Center was established over 25 years ago by the Indian Government to act as a centre of excellence for the advancement of the frontiers of science and to provide break-through technology as well as to develop educational and research opportunities at graduate and doctoral levels in the field of ocean engineering. It forms a core part of the IIT Madras, which is among the foremost institutes of India in higher technological education, basic and applied research, with over 8,000 students.
Professor Surendran Sankunny, Ph. D, Dept of Ocean Engineering Center, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, said: "We selected Paramarine not only because it is one of the world’s leading multi-market ship design software packages, but because it is very user friendly and offers an extensive range of functionality. Its pedigree as naval architecture software of choice is further reinforced by the fact it is used by many universities around the world to educate and inform students."
Paramarine is based on over 25 years of experience in commercial and naval ship and submersible design. It is used by many of the world’s leading shipbuilders and ship designers, as well as some of the world’s leading universities including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University College London.
The software was supplied along with preliminary training and initial handholding to the students of IIT by Conceptia Software Technologies Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, India, the authorised distributor for Paramarine software.
