Established in 1913, NEK Kabel has more than 100 years’ experience in designing, manufacturing and supplying the most diverse cables for a wide range of applications. Our experience and knowledge, together with research, development and design capabilities, enable NEK Kabel to operate in the most demanding international markets for both standard and tailor-made cable.
Over the years, NEK Kabel has continually developed its series of communication cables for the marine and oil and gas industries. Now NEK Kabel offers the market one of the most comprehensive ranges of DNV (and soon also ABS)-approved cables; from LAN to BUS cables, coaxial to RS cables, fibre optic to composite and custom-made cables. The company takes pride in its flexibility, short delivery times and often low quantities for production.
LAN cables for the marine industry
The LanMarin series includes LAN cables Cat.5e, Cat.6 and Cat.7 for both horizontal cabling and patching. All cables are supplied with LSZH and SHF1 characteristics, as well as being fire-retardant according to IEC60332-3-22 Cat.A. The whole series is also available as MUD-resistant NEK606. NEK Kabel completes its range of LAN cables with high-quality compatible RJ45 keystone jacks and plugs to guarantee the best performance.
Coaxial cables for broadcast transmissions
The coaxial range includes RG type cables 50Ohm and 75Ohm to support all kinds of radio, video and broadcast transmissions. The series currently comprises RG58, RG59, RG6, RG11, RG213 and RG214, all in non-armoured and armoured versions. Both versions are SHF1, LSZH and fire-retardant according to IEC60332-3-22 Cat.A. The whole series is also available as MUD-resistant NEK606. NEK Kabel completes the range with high-quality connectivity to guarantee the best transmission performance.
BUS and RS cables for the maritime sector
For BUS applications, NEK Kabel offers high-quality Profibus and CAN BUS cables, based on LSZH SHF2 properties and provided with IEC60332-3-22 Cat.A fire-retardant level. The whole series is also available as MUD-resistant NEK606.
NEK Kabel also supplies RS422 and RS485 cables, from one to four pairs. Both cables are provided with LSZH and SHF1 characteristics, armoured by bronze braid and fire-retardant IEC60332-3-22 Cat.A. The whole series is also available as MUD-resistant NEK606.
Fibre optic communication cables
NEK Kabel supplies two main types of fibre optic cables with DNV (and soon also ABS) approval: tight buffered design AICI and loose tube type QFCI. Both are provided with LSZH SHF1 characteristics and are fire-retardant according to IEC60332-3-22 Cat.A. In addition, QFCI is provided with fire-resistant characteristics in compliance with IEC60331. The whole series is also available as MUD-resistant NEK606.
Custom cables for offshore applications
In addition to many standard cables, NEK Kabel manufactures custom cables to meet the requirements of specific clients and diverse applications. These capabilities include:
