Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection, a subsidiary of The Travel Corporation (TTC) launched its new cruise ship SS Maria Theresa, which was named after the Habsburg dynasty’s only female ruler Maria Theresa, in March 2015. The ship was conceived and designed by The Red Carnation Hotel Collection.

The ship will begin maiden revenue cruise operation on 28 March 2015 and will cruise in Rhine, Main and Danube rivers.

The vessel has a length of 443ft and width of 37.5ft, and can accommodate 150 guests and 57 staff. It features a grand lobby having a 10ft oil painting of Maria Theresa.

Accommodation of SS Maria Theresa

The vessel has four decks named Dürer Sun, Hofburg, Schonnbrunn and Bavarian, which feature a total of 64 staterooms and 11 suites including a 410ft² royal suite. Staterooms include 194ft² category one to three rooms, and 162ft² category four to five rooms. Suites are located on the Hofberg deck and have 305ft² area.

All the staterooms and suites are facilitated with Savoir® England beds, Egyptian cotton linens, and flatscreen TV with infotainment centre. They further feature a hair dryer, safe, individual thermostat, built-in closets, and bottled mineral water.

The bathrooms feature L’Occitane en Provence, and Hermés bath products, as well as towels, towel warmer, bathrobes and slippers. Guests can also avail in-suite special butler service, packing and unpacking assistance, and free laundry and shoe shine services.

The royal suite features additional facilities including a separate, spacious living room, a bathroom featuring a rain shower and tub, and a separate toilet and bidet area.

The Hofburg deck features open air balconies, with French balconies on the Schonnbrunn deck. The ship includes a Habsburg salon with full-service bar, Bar du Leopard with full-service bar, Baroque restaurant, and Bohemian terrace.

The amenities in the public areas of the ship include a fully stocked mini bar, Nespresso coffee machine and fine teas. Guests are offered a full breakfast menu, daily fruit and cookie plate, and evening snack.

The entertainment facilities on-board include Lipizzan cinema, iPod docking station, and a life-size chessboard on the Dürer Sun deck.

The ship also includes an elevator, fitness centre, Serenity River spa, and Viennese Café. Other amenities include free Internet and Wi-Fi access, round-the-clock specialty coffee and tea bar, guest laundry, and heated swimming pool.

SS Maria Theresa itineraries

SS Maria Theresa will commence the first revenue cruise operations in March 2015 with nine-day Tulips & Windmills voyage from Amsterdam in Netherlands to Antwerp in Belgium. She will pass through ports including Zaandam, Hoorn, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, Kinderdijk, Dordrecht, Veere and Ghent.

Her itineraries in 2015 and 2016 will include eight-day Danube Holiday Markets, 11-day Enchanting Christmas & New Year’s Cruise, and 15-day European Jewels.
