Silver Moon is the second of three new ultra-luxury cruise ships being built by Fincantieri at its Ancona shipyard for Silversea Cruises. The launching ceremony of the Silver Moon cruise ship was held in August 2019.
Silver Moon is a sister ship to Silver Muse and Silver Dawn and will become the ninth ship in Silversea’s fleet. It will embark on its inaugural voyage in August 2020.
The cruise ship will set new standards in the ultra-luxury segment while offering an enhanced on-board experience to the guests.
Silver Moon cruise ship design and features
The interiors of the ship will feature crystal panels crafted by Lalique. Built according to the Green star 3 Design classification, the vessel will prevent air and water pollution. The ship will also be assigned ‘COMF-NOISE A PAX’ and ‘COMF-NOISE B CREW’ notations.
The new cruise ship will measure 212.8m long and 27m wide and will have a gross registered tonnage of 40,700t. It is expected to accommodate 596 passengers and 411 crew members.
Accommodation
Silver Moon will offer roomy all-suite accommodations. The ship will house nine different types of suites including Owner’s Suite, Grand Suite, Royal Suite, Silver Suite, Deluxe Veranda Suite, Superior Veranda Suite, Classic Veranda Suite, Panorama Suite and Vista Suite.
The Owner’s Suite and Royal Suite units will occupy Deck seven of the ship, while the Grand Suite category will be located across Deck eight and Deck nine. The decks from nine to eleven will accommodate Silver Suite category while the Deluxe Veranda suites will be arranged across the decks six to eight.
The Superior Veranda suites will occupy decks seven, eight and nine while the Classic Veranda suites will be situated on the fifth and sixth deck. Deck nine will accommodate Panorama suites and Deck four will feature Vista suites.
The suites aboard the ship will feature twin beds or king-sized bed, walk-in wardrobes with personal safe, refrigerator and bar setup, a bathroom with full-sized tub and separate shower and luxury bath amenities.
Dining on Silver Moon cruise ship
The ship will feature a new culinary concept, S.A.L.T (Sea and Land Taste). The S.A.L.T Kitchen, S.A.L.T Bar and S.A.L.T Lab on the ship will provide the guests with an exemplary food experience of regional ingredients and culinary customs.
Deck four of the ship will include restaurants such as Atlantide and Kaiseki. Atlantide can be extended to accommodate up to 230 guests. The ship will also include Silversea’s signature restaurant LaDame. The restaurant will accommodate more than 50 guests.
Deck five will include Dolce Vita lounge, benefiting from a new layout wherein the bar will be repositioned to the centre. The Dolce Vita will serve as a sophisticated bar during the day and a piano bar offering pre-dinner cocktails during night.
Deck nine will feature Connoisseur’s Corner, which will house Wintergarden area, enabling the guests to enjoy premium liquors and cigars in a sophisticated atmosphere.
Other restaurants aboard the ship will include Silver Note, The Grill, La Terrazza, and Spaccanapoli.
Entertainment and wellness facilities onboard Silver Moon
Entertainment venues on the ship will include the Observation Library, the Casino, the Panorama Lounge and the Venetian Lounge. The ship will feature Arts Café that will host exciting exhibitions, sculptures and paintings. Silver Moon will also include Zagara Beauty Salon, and Zagara Beauty Spa.
The ship will feature a pool deck with an enlarged, U-shaped bar area, providing the guests with a redesigned spa and fitness centre. It will also offer a large thermal area, gym, and a relaxation area with outdoor and indoor spaces.
Propulsion details
The cruise ship will be powered by four DD-GG Wärtsilä 9L38 diesel engines, four 6,300kW alternators and a 900kW emergency alternator.
With the total propulsion power of 17,000kW, the vessel can attain a maximum speed of 21k and a service speed of 19.8k.
Silver Moon itineraries
The new cruise ship will embark on its inaugural voyage from Trieste to Rome (Clvtltavecchla), in August 2020. It will sail in the Mediterranean region during its maiden season until November 2020, before arriving at Fort Lauderdale.
The ship will also visit some of the Caribbean islands including Antigua, Barbados, and Puerto Rico. Its Grand South America 2021 itinerary will provide the guests with an experience of a magnificent circumnavigation of the continent. The itinerary will cover 37 destinations in 20 countries, between January and March 2021.
