Port Everglades Terminal (PET) has announced the launch of its new gate appointment and payments solution, provided by Advent eModal (AeM).
The eModal platform offers integrated and automated gate management and payments for the Florida freight terminal.
The AeM system will automate the container terminal operations, which the company says will increase “cargo visibility” and speed of process for all sea and shore operators.
The streamlining process will begin before ships enter the port, however, with AeM’s PreGate and Fee Manager applications, which are integrated into the eModal Community Portal.
The platform aims to give oversight of port operations in one place and AeM said it will allow significant efficiency gains.
Port Everglades Terminal CEO Rick Blackmore said: “Today, marine terminal operators must move ever-increasing cargo volumes within limited terminal acreage. It’s imperative to streamline operations.
“With eModal’s PreGate and Fee Manager applications, we can improve gate flow, expand our capacity to allow more throughput and provide better visibility and service to our trucker and shipper community.”
Port Everglades’ CEO and port director Jonathan Daniels said: “The addition of Advent eModal to PET’s already efficient marine terminal operations will be a real plus, especially with the start of MSC’s Santana service to Asia along with MSC’s other services to the Caribbean and Latin America.”
