Japanese-Singaporean shipping company Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced a new West India - North America (WIN) service.

The WIN service will commence in May 2024 and will span from India’s West Coast to the US East Coast, featuring nine of ONE’s vessels.

The route service will call at some of the largest ports in India including the Jawaharlal Nehru Port near Mumbai. Despite the focus on India, the route will actually begin in Pakistan's Bin Qasim port near Karachi.

It will also call in at Damietta, Algeciras, and Jeddah en route to the US.

According to ONE, the service’s independence will give its valued clients “dependability and flexibility”.

Apramapar Singh, General Manager of India Marketing in ONE India talked about the uniqueness of the new service.

“At ONE, we have been committed to the India market since day one, and the new WIN is another milestone for our business. The main commodities include FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) such as electronics, perishables such as foodstuff and retail goods including textile and apparel.

“Furthermore, chemical moving between these two countries will benefit from the direct and increased capacity. ONE’s new WIN will provide customers in this region with a fast and direct service to meet their needs for on-time delivery to and from North America."

Alongside this Singh stated that the Hazira container terminal will serve as a major gateway for the shipping company. Hazira will link to South Gujarat, North Maharashtra, and Central India's industrially lively belts.

Zach Connors, Senior Director and Head of Sales of ONE North America emphasised the benefits of the strategic service.

Connors said:  “Our new WIN service is a flexible and dynamic product, designed to catalyse the development of the India-North America market and beyond.

“Enhanced access to additional growing economies along this new route, by direct call and transhipment, will provide even further value to ONE's partners in their pursuit of supplier/buyer diversification.”

The route calls for a service rotation between: Bin Qasim – Hazira – Nhava Sheva – Mundra – Damietta – Algeciras – New York – Savannah – Jacksonville – Charleston – Norfolk – Damietta – Jeddah – Bin Qasim.

This announcement follows ONE's previous route expansion offerings, which included a new FLX service connecting Latin America to US in September 2023.
