Marine green technology company Yara Marine Technologies has rebranded to Manta Marine Technologies after it was sold by Yara to Okapi Supply Trading Advisory.
Manta Marine has also welcomed a new leadership team as part of its new brand, with former CEO Thomas Koniordos stepping down to become chair of the board and former deputy CEO and COO Ina Reksten taking on the top job.
Reksten said that the sale and subsequent changes would allow the company to offer “more efficient and effective solutions”, she said: “In addition to developing future maritime technologies like wind propulsion, we will continue to support our customers with lifecycle services and ensure the same high-quality performance in existing products.”
In addition to the change of CEO, Manta Marine also announced that its former Chief Sales Officer Aleksander Askeland would step up as chief financial officer, and Richard Engelhart Bjercke will become its chief commercial officer.
Yara confirmed the sale of Manta Marine to Okapi at the beginning of February as part of the Norwegian chemical company’s decision to offload the business and focus on its core markets.
Okapi Supply Trading Advisory CEO Mohamed J. Nado said: “I am confident that Manta Marine Technologies, with Ina at the helm of its new leadership team, will continue to excel at advancing sustainable solutions for the maritime industry.”
Manta Marine’s products include performance management systems, AI-powered ship operation support, and shore power technology for vessels.
