Logistics company DP World has completed a strategic merger with the Evyap Group to combine the operations of the Ports of Yarimca and Körfez in Turkey.
The companies have formed a new entity called DP World Evyap, which will see DP World take a 58% stake in Evyapport and the Evyap Group manage a 42% stake in DP World Yarimca as the companies work together on a new logistics hub on the Marmara Sea.
DP World CEO Ahmed bin Sulayem said: “DP World’s vision is to lead global trade to a stronger, more efficient and sustainable future.
“Our strategic partnership with Evyapport advances this strategy in Turkey; one of our most important markets.”
Thanks to the combining of both ports, the new operation will offer a combined 2,088m of berthing space and a total annual container handling capacity of more than 2 million TEUs.
Additionally, the integration of operations will extend to project and heavy lift cargo services, as well as access to the road and rail links connecting the sites to Turkey’s transport networks.
Mehmen Evyap, CEO of Evyap Holding, said the partnership would strengthen the company’s presence in the port and logstics sector as it expanded its investments in the industry.
He said: “The new company will shorten operation times, increase service diversity and add value to our customers and Turkey's trade with efficiencies achieved across the two partnership terminals."
The partnership was first announced in August 2023 but has now received the approval of Turkish competition authorities, meaning the two ports will now be rebranded to ‘DP World Evyap Yarimca’ and ‘DP World Evyap Körfez’.
