Marine technology company Wartsila has received a contract from Kuwait Petroleum Company (KPC) subsidiary Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) to upgrade its four vessels.
The company will install the Wartsila Fuel Efficiency Boost solution to the main engines of the ships.
It is expected to decrease fuel consumption, which will reduce the impact on the environment by decreasing greenhouse gas emission levels.
Many ship owners, including KOTC, are looking for different ideas to reduce the consumption of fuel and carbon footprint.
The company said that many shipping companies have placed similar orders, following the Wartsila Fuel Efficiency Boost initiative.
The solution is built on two-stroke engine optimisation technology for some Wartsila RT-flex and the deliveries of X-type two-stroke engines delivery.
