TechBinder, an IoT platform provider, has joined KVH Industries’ Watch Solution Partner programme and will provide KVH Watch service as part of its wide range of digital tools and services.
The digital tools include Smart Vessel Optimizer, a platform that optimises fleet performance with the help of vessel data.
For this purpose, the platform benchmarks ship performance, performs emission reporting, forecasts, and optimises asset availability, and handles several aspects for operational efficiency.
TechBinder managing partner Bram van den Boom said: “Smart Vessel Optimizer’s plug-and-play architecture for data analytics can be easily integrated with KVH Watch connectivity and we expect our customers will greatly benefit from our partnership with KVH.
“Today, customers increasingly want a real-time visual of their vessels’ key performance indicators, so they need satellite communications as vessels are not within LTE reach all the time.”
KVH IoT business development senior director Sven Brooks said: “With solutions such as Smart Vessel Optimizer, TechBinder is devoted to helping maritime companies optimise their operations and we are pleased to be able to provide the connectivity that enables real-time data flow and insights.

By GlobalData“KVH Watch will enable TechBinder’s customers to engage in remote expert interventions, allowing technical troubleshooting and maintenance work to be carried out at deep sea.”
Real-time insights help vessels and fleets to use the deep-sea sailing time to address problems.
However, these insights can only be accessed via satellite connectivity. Tapping the available data sources on a vessel can help optimise operations, KVH Industries noted.
Maritime IoT and service companies can use real-time data feeds from ships by leveraging advanced satellite technology, and assist operators to make the required improvements on vessels.
An IoT connectivity as a service solution, KVH Watch provides Flow, which offers secure 24/7/365 machine-to-Cloud satellite connectivity, enabling remote monitoring of on-board equipment and the ability to carry out on-demand remote expert interventions via video, voice, or text through the global HTS network of KVH.
KVH Watch can be deployed by marine equipment manufacturers, multi-card service providers, and shipyards.
Its services can be obtained as part of an affordable monthly subscription.
