Global fleet management conglomerate OSM Thome has purchased 100% of Klaveness Ship Management shares from its owning group Torvald Klaveness Group.
The Norwegian ship management firm has several subsidiaries under the Klaveness brand, which has agreed new ship management contracts with the new ownership structure.
“This move by the Torvald Klaveness Group is driven by the need for scale and investment capacity to address future demands, and to strengthen the development of ship management activities linked to the Klaveness Combination Carriers,” the firms announced.
“This transfer of ownership represents a new operations model that integrates the expertise, focus, and quality we’ve built over many years in our ship management operations with the necessary scale. That said, we are pleased to cooperate with OSM Thome, leveraging their expertise and resources to meet future requirements and preserving the world-class operations of the Klaveness Combination Carrier fleet,” said Torvald Klaveness CEO Ernst Meyer.
The Klaveness family will retain its names under OSM Thome ownership, but will be integrated with OSM’s 29,000 seafarers and 1,600 shore-based professionals around the world. OSM was created by a merger between a Norwegian firm and a Singaporean ship manager, and has continued to operate with a global client base.
The deal will also protect the technical operating model of Klaveness Combination Carriers and its fleet, meaning its staff will not be moved to other arms of the larger business.
