Turkish terminal operator Yilport has assumed full control of Sweden’s Gävle Container Terminal (GCT) and Baltic Sea Gateway (BSG).
Under a 30+10 year concession signed with Gävle Municipality, Yilport has been given the remaining 20% right to operate container, bulk, general cargo, and rail and CFS services in Port of Gävle terminals.
In 2014, Yilport acquired 80% of the Gävle terminal facility, which was considered the company’s second big investment in Sweden.
The Port of Gävle is Sweden’s third-biggest container port, situated north of Stockholm.
Yilport has also acquired 100% of the shares of BSG, another subsidiary of Gävle Municipality.
The agreement considers Yilport to be the sole operator at Port of Gävle, and under a 40-year concession (ten years optional), Yilport has been given the right to operate container, bulk and general cargo, rail, and CFS warehouses of the port.

By GlobalDataThe recent acquisition of the port and terminal is considered to be Yilport’s attempt to feature in the global top ten port operators by 2025.
The company’s current European portfolio is said to have tripled in its capacity last year, following the acquisition of Tertir, with 22 terminals operated across seven mostly located in European countries.
Yilport chairman Robert Yuksel Yildirim said: "Gävle welcomed us in 2014, and we acquired 80% shares of Gävle Container Terminal. Today Yilport is very happy to be awarded the remaining 20% shares and Baltic Sea Gateway terminal as well.
"I believe that we will maximise efficiency and profitability by consolidating Port of Gävle operations. We are excited to bring our experience to BSG and GCT, expand further and offer end-to-end terminal services in Gävle.
"We welcome new terminals in our portfolio, and take another step towards our goal to be ranked among top ten international port operators by 2025. As part of this objective we strive to enhance our global presence further."
