Wärtsilä has won a contract from US-based Harvey Gulf International Marine to supply a liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion system to two advanced offshore supply vessels (PSV).
The Finnish company will supply an integrated system that includes dual-fuel machinery, an electrical and automation package, complete propulsion and the LNG fuel storage and handling components.
According to Wärtsilä, the STX Marine-built SV310DF offshore support vessels will be the first ever US-flagged PSV to be powered by clean, safe and efficient LNG via Wärtsilä’s six-cylinder 34DF dual-fuel engines.
The vessel will have an LNG storage capacity of 290m3, enabling the vessel to operate over more than a week.
They will have a capacity of 5520dwt, a transit speed of 13kt and are scheduled for delivery in two years.
The contract includes options to supply propulsion equipment for additional follow-on vessels.
