

Denmark-based shipping and logistics company Shipping.dk has acquired Maersk Broker Agency in a bid to expand its position as a significant player in Scandinavian agency and stevedoring operations.
This acquisition by Shipping.dk, which is part of USTC Group, is in-line with the company’s plans of increased growth and specialisation in its core business.
Shipping.dk managing director Søren Gran Hansen said: "With increased focus on efficiency and volume, the shipping and logistics industry is in a consolidation phase these years.
"The acquisition of Maersk Broker Agency provides Shipping.dk with a solid foundation for further development of the most significant business areas such as, among other things, agency, stevedoring and cruise services."
Shipping.dk currently undertakes stevedoring operations and warehouse leasing, ship clearance, chartering, liner services and freight forwarding.
Established in 1915, Maersk Broker Agency offers services a broad variety of agency and logistics services through its network, as well as consultancy to the shipping industry.
Maersk Broker CEO Anders Hald said: "We are of firm conviction that Shipping.dk is the right owner for further development of Maersk Broker Agency in an industry characterised by tough competition and where both volume and efficiency are important parameters.
"It was crucial to find the right future home for the activities and not least for our loyal and skilled employees."
Maersk Broker Agency has offices in the largest ports of Scandinavia and ten offices across Denmark, Sweden and Norway. After the acquisition, the new unit will consist of 170 employees.
