Navis has successfully upgraded the terminal operating system of Mexico-based port operator Altamira Terminal Portuaria (ATP).
The upgrade project saw the company replace the terminal’s existing Navis N4 version 2.1 operating system with the more advanced version 3.3.
The new version has already gone live at the ATP terminal without causing any delays or operational disruptions.
ATP noted that the upgrade will allow the company to handle future container growth in the Gulf of Mexico and meet changing customer requirements.
ATP chief operating officer Adonay Saad said: “N4 encompasses a wide variety of features that enable our terminal to optimise operations and respond swiftly to changing business requirements, keeping us one step ahead of the curve in order to satisfy our customers’ needs.”
ATP is a subsidiary of Grupo Mexgal and currently handles approximately 350,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo annually.

By GlobalDataThe ATP terminal has also achieved 83 container moves per hour with 2.5 cranes, 200 yard moves per hour and average truck turnaround times of 22 minutes.
Navis Americas vice-president and general manager Chuck Schneider said: “As Mexican cargo volumes continue to rise, forward-thinking terminals like ATP have taken the pre-emptive step to ensure they have the most modern infrastructure and processes in place to accommodate both future growth, along with heightened customer expectations.”
Navis also upgraded the terminal operating system of Germany’s North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven (NTB) from Navis Express to the N4 system in July, as part of a separate development.
