Navis, a unit of Cargotec, has provided its terminal operating software (TOS) for Puerto Central’s new terminal opened at the port of San Antonio in Chile.
It took eight months for Navis to complete the installation of the software at the new terminal.
Puerto Central contracted Kalmar and Liebherr for the hardware required for the terminal, which operates seven Super Post Panamax STS, seven reach stackers, 14 RTGs, four top lifters, and 32 terminal tractors.
The company, which currently handles 80,000 twenty foot equivalent units (TEU) of capacity annually, expects to handle 800,000TEU-900,000TEU of volume over the next five years.
Puerto Central CCO Carlos Baez said: “The implementation of state of the art equipment like Kalmar and Liebherr working in sync with top of the line software and technology like Navis N4 positions us as the most modern port in Chile.
“Now that the terminal has opened we are focused on providing a level of excellence of service that befits our state-of-the-art operation.
