Greenland-based cargo service provider Royal Arctic Line (RAL) has activated the new N4 operating system from Navis at its terminal in Aalborg, Denmark.

The newly installed terminal operating system (TOS) has replaced RAL’s existing in-house system and has streamlined business processes of the terminal.

The upgraded TOS will enable the terminal to handle 50,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) and 25-28 cranes in an hour.

Operating in the Nordic regions, RAL container terminals currently serve northern Denmark and Greenland.

“We completed this first phase of our project on a tight timeline and have plans for additional implementation of N4 in Greenland occurring in 2017.”

Recently, the company announced that Matson deployed its N4 TOS at terminals, located at three ports in Alaska, US.

Installation of the N4 TOS is expected to improve operations and efficiency of Matson’s Alaska operations, which handles around 70,000 containers annually.

The newly deployed N4 TOS has replaced Navis’ SPARCS, and a homegrown operating system.

Matson’s terminal in Honolulu, US, also uses the N4 TOS.
