Australia-based marine service provider Mermaid Marine Australia (MMA) has added two new vessels to its international fleet, the Jaya Majestic anchor handing tug supply vessel (AHTS) and Jaya Victory platform supply vessel (PSV).
Jaya Majestic is the first vessel to be built since Singapore-based offshore engineering and support services provider Jaya Holdings was acquired by MMA for $495m in June.
Jaya Majestic is a high specification 78m DP-2 AHTS and was built at one of MMA’s Jaya shipyards in South East Asia. The vessel is suited to supporting jack up rigs, semi-submersible rigs, floating production storage offloading facilities (FPSO) and offshore construction spreads.
The vessel’s clear deck area is about 20% larger than that of other ships in the region, measuring more than 600m². This will help in providing customers with extra capacity for rig support. Jaya Majestic also features FiFi one firefighting and oil dispersant equipment making it suitable for emergency response.
The vessel, which is expected to commence operations in South East Asia later this month, was christened at the company’s Singapore shipyard.
MMA managing director Jeffrey Weber said: “Jaya Majestic is one of our most sophisticated vessels and delivers on MMA’s strategy to increase exposure to high specification vessel classes.

By GlobalData“The delivery of Jaya Majestic is testament to the company’s technical competence in shipbuilding, which allows us to optimise our fleet to meet our clients’ current and emerging marine requirements.”
Jaya Victory, which is a 76m PSV designed by Focal Marine, was delivered to MMA in Singapore from the Guangzhou Hangtong shipyard in China. It can carry a cargo weight up to 3,500t.
The vessel is equipped with DP-2 and FiFi one standards and is suitable for carrying liquid mud, speciality chemicals, dry bulk cargoes, fuel and water.
Jaya Victory has been contracted by a Mexican client for a two-year period, which can be further extended. Its sister vessel, Jaya Valiant, is expected to be delivered later this year.
