MAN PrimeServ has won a contract from Royal Caribbean Cruises to add 30 turbochargers aboard four cruise liners from its fleet.
Under the contract, the company will supply the turbochargers for two vessels that are operated by Royal Caribbean International and the other two operated by Pullmantur.
MAN PrimeServ will also provide attachment kits and technical support to Royal Caribbean Cruises.
The Grandeur of the Seas and Enchantment of the Seas ships are currently powered by four 12V 48/60 MAN engines, which will now be fitted with 16 TCA55 turbochargers, while the Horizon and Zenith vessels will be retrofitted with four NA40/S and ten NA34/S turbochargers.
MAN PrimeServ said that the installation of the first retrofit will be done aboard Enchantment of the Seas in December during its regular sailing schedule between Florida and the Bahamas.
It also highlighted that it would take approximately ten days to install one engine.
