A joint venture (JV) of SERKA, based in Turkey, and MSF, based in Portugal, has won a second package contract worth OMR107.3m ($281m) from the Special Economic Zone Authority in Duqm (SEZAD), Oman.
The contractual scope includes developing infrastructure and buildings at the commercial terminal and operational zone areas of the Port of Duqm (IP2).
The JV will build four terminals on the new commercial pier, which will be equipped with two containers measuring 1,600m-long and 350m-wide and have a capacity of 3.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU).
A dry bulk terminal and a versatile terminal will also be built with a capacity of five million metric tonnes a year (mt/y) and 800,000mt/y respectively.
The VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and Rolls-Royce have entered a strategic partnership to develop the first generation of remote and autonomous ships that can be deployed for commercial use.
The collaboration will help Rolls-Royce to realise its goal of building a commercial remote-controlled vessel by 2020.
