DP World Australia, part of DP World, has signed a $45m contract with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company (ZPMC) for four new super post-panamax container cranes.

The new cranes, to be operational by next year, will increase the productivity and capacity of DP World Australia’s Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney terminals.

Antwerp, Zeebrugge, Rotterdam, and Singapore ports have established the Network of Ports and Maritime Administrations to formulate a set of accorded liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering standards.

The network was further expanded to include Jacksonville, US; and Norway, and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed to include a group of LNG bunker-ready ports across East and West, and Trans-Pacific trade.

The new LNG bunkering standards will be based on the regulations of the International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH), the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and the Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF).

The new standards will enable the ports to become LNG bunker-ready and will also streamline the LNG bunkering operations.
