Finland’s Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) shipyard has placed a €3m ($3.37m) contract with AVIC International Maritime Holdings’ subsidiary, Deltamarin, to design a new 158m ro-pax vessel, which will be built for Mols-Linien, a Danish ferry services provider.
The contractual scope includes designing the vessel’s hull outfitting, machinery and cargo areas at Deltamarin’s Finland and Poland offices in a 12 month period.
Scheduled to enter service in 2018, the ro-pax vessel will have the capacity to carry approximately 1,500 lane metres of cargo, and will be deployed between the Danish islands of Bornholm and Sjaelland, offering both passenger and cargo services.
Caterpillar Marine has secured a contract to supply its Cat power solutions to Stena Line’s four new 3100 LM RoPax ferries, which are designed by Deltamarin and will be constructed at AVIC Weihai Shipyard in China.
Caterpillar’s Cat power solutions range from 5kW to 16,000kW and are capable of powering new and next-generation vessels.
Under the order, Caterpillar will supply two MaK 12 M 43 C propulsion engines, two MPP1500F and two MPP1410F controllable pitch propellers, and the required gear boxes to power the four ferries.
