The new DNV GL SeaSkill certification recognises the Marine Academy’s to comply with the necessary maritime training criteria.
The certification will be valid for the next five years, and follows an extensive auditing process by the classification society.
ABB’s Marine Academy seeks to reduce vessel downtime and improve safety through skill development, operating branches in Rotterdam, the Netherlands; Ulsteinvik, Norway; Helsinki, Finland; Genoa, Italy; Singapore and Houston, US.
The company notes that the maritime sector is currently witnessing a strong demand for skilled and updated crew members due to the growing presence of various electrical systems on vessels.
ABB Marine Academy sales and marketing manager Klaus Moldskred said: “The Marine Academy is a vital link between ABB and the maritime industry.
