Kongsberg Digital (KDI) has won a contract from GasLog to supply a comprehensive liquefied natural gas (LNG) simulator package.
The package will be developed to provide improved safety and operational training for GasLog’s crew members, with a special focus on LNG operation.
It will feature an integrated training solution, including K-Sim navigation, engine and cargo-handling simulator models.
The package will feature a K-Sim Navigation DNV Class A ship’s bridge simulator and a K-Sim Engine Desktop simulator comprising the Steam Plant Dual Fuel LNG Carrier and Diesel Electric Duel Fuel DE21 LNG models.
As part of the contract, GasLog’s engine room models will be interfaced to a matching K-Sim Cargo LNG Liquefied Natural Gas Carrier-M cargo handling simulator, while an entire floor in GasLog’s Technical Management headquarters in Piraeus, Greece, will be allocated for simulator training activities.
Kongsberg Digital Maritime Simulation senior vice-president Tone-Merete Hansen said: “Greece is poised to become the largest and most significant shipping nation in the global LNG sector and KDI is proud to be such an integral associate in support of this drive.
