Gospel Boat, a Chinese vessel manufacturer, has entered into an agreement with ACEL Power to purchase 1,000 electric propulsion units over the next five years.

With this move, Gospel Boat aims to electrify its product line in response to a growing “eco-conscious consumer base” and “strict environmental regulations” in key markets such as Europe, Australia, and North America.

Gospel Boat, which manufactures 1,400 boats annually, including pontoons, pro-fishers, catamarans, and centre cabins, has taken a “significant step toward sustainability” through this partnership.

The company has outlined a strategic plan to incorporate electric propulsion into at least 10% of its boats within the first year of the agreement. This percentage is expected to double by the fifth year.

Gospel Boat managing director Jack Li said: “We are excited to partner with ACEL Power to lead this transformation in the marine industry.

“Innovation is the future of boating, and this collaboration is key to redefining sustainable marine experiences worldwide.”

The first batch of electric boats is anticipated to be ready for export by mid-2025.

ACEL Power’s electric propulsion technology solutions comprise the Intelligent Electric Series. Launched in 2024, the series includes the IE50 (50HP) and IE75 (75HP) models.

These systems consist of electric outboards, battery packs, power supply, smart chargers, digital throttles, and onboard computers.

Furthermore, the systems feature a 95.8% powertrain efficiency and AC/DC fast charging support along with proprietary software for real-time performance monitoring.

ACEL Power CEO Anthony Liu said: “This partnership highlights our shared commitment to sustainability and innovation. At ACEL, we’re electrifying the marine industry, driving digital transformation, and creating seamless user experiences.”

In April 2024, ACEL Group selected Finnish power electronics specialist The Switch, part of BEMAC Group, to supply single drives for a midlife upgrade of the multipurpose offshore vessel Island Frontier.

The project was managed by ACEL’s subsidiary, Haf Power Solutions (HPS).
