The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has opened a new inland terminal near Chatsworth in Murray County, Georgia, US, to serve customers in a four-state region, including North Georgia, Northeast Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky.
The new Appalachian Regional Port (ARP) facility is developed to offer logistics solutions and eliminate around 50,000 trucks and 15 million truck miles off the local highways every year.
Spanning across 42 acres of space, ARP is situated near to the US 411 route and offers easy access to Interstate 75.
The terminal is linked by a direct, 388-mile rail route of CSX to the Port of Savannah’s Garden City Terminal to offer movement of both import and export containers.
GPA executive director Griff Lynch said: “The ARP is part of our Network Georgia initiative that brings services from the coast to communities around the state.
“The new inland terminal will provide the same, superior quality services our customers have come to rely on: congestion-free, easy access, expedited handling and reliability.”
