Fincantieri has commenced construction of the Seven Seas Splendor super luxury cruise ship at its Ancona shipyard in Italy for Norwegian cruise line Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
The new vessel is the second ship being built by Fincantieri for Regent Seven Seas Cruises and is expected to be delivered by 2020.
Similar to its sister ship ‘Seven Seas Explorer’, Seven Seas Splendor will be designed to have a 55,000t capacity and carry 750 passengers.
Seven Seas Explorer was delivered by Fincantieri at its shipyard in Sestri Ponente, Genova, Italy, in 2016.
Regent Seven Seas Cruises president and CEO Jason Montague said: “Seven Seas Explorer has earned remarkable acclaim since debuting in 2016 as the most luxurious ship ever built.
“Now, her sister Seven Seas Splendor builds upon the success of that lauded ship as it strives to perfect uncompromised luxury on the seas.
