International Container Terminal Service (ICTSI) has announced the opening of the East Java Multipurpose Terminal (EJMT) for business in Lamongan Regency, Indonesia.

This new facility is aiming to become East Java’s most advanced gateway for trade, catering to a diverse range of cargo needs.

Constructed within a 18-month timeframe, the terminal features a 300m quay line, a 13.5m (LAT) deep water draft, a 500m swinging basin, and advanced handling equipment for bulk, project, and containerised cargo.

It features two largest post-Panamax mobile harbour cranes in the region.

EJMT CEO Patrick Chan said: “Strategically located in Terminal Umum Tanjung Pakis – Pelabuhan Brondong, alongside Lamongan Shorebase, the new terminal will provide another option for our customers in Lamongan, Tuban, and as far as Central Java, serving both their domestic and international trade requirements.

“Backed by a deep-water berth and the largest mobile harbor cranes in East Java, our customers can now deploy larger vessels, allowing them to load more cargo and reduce their overall costs per unit by calling at EJMT.”

Lamongan Shorebase is operated by Eastern Logistics.

EJMT’s strategic location near key industrial hubs is expected to streamline supply chains and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

The terminal’s operation aligns with the economic ambitions of local and regional industries, providing a platform for trade and investment.

Adjacent to EJMT, the 500ha I-Sentra industrial park developed by Jakamitra offers space for new ventures.

Eastern Logistics CEO David Lim said: “With new international liner connectivity, our oil and gas clients can import materials directly to Lamongan Shorebase, reducing both transit time and logistics costs.”

In December 2022, ICTSI secured a new 30-year lease for the Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) in Gdynia, Poland.
