Damen Shipyards Group has delivered the second unit in a series of two new crew supply vessels to Unite Arab Emirates (UAE) based company Marine Core & Charter (MC2).
The newly delivered Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 4008-class vessel has been named AMIA and is expected to operate from Abu Dhabi, UAE, in the Arabian Gulf.
It is anticipated to help MC2 to fulfil its aim of expanding its chartering activities, as well as increasing the company’s role in the marine contracting sector using its own fleet.
Damen previously delivered the first of the two FCS 4008 vessels, AMPI, in September.
AMIA and its sister ship are capable of carrying 90 people each and feature a maximum cruising speed of 25k.
The vessel is equipped with 140m² of cargo deck aft and has a travel range of 1,200 nautical miles (nmi), allowing it to reach the furthest offshore installations.

By GlobalDataThe 40m-long vessel also features Damen’s Axe Bow design, which offers improved seakeeping capability in multiple weather conditions.
Marine Core & Charter CEO Adib Massih said: “The delivery by Damen of the second FCS 4008 brings our total fleet up to 20 vessels.
“With the addition of these two boats, we have achieved the growth we had planned for this year, both in terms of the number of vessels and the expansion of our operations.
“We chose Damen in part due to their extensive experience in the crew boat market, the local support in the UAE and also because of their ‘build for stock’ policy.
“Their ability to deliver vessels very rapidly, when a company like ourselves wins new business, was a deciding factor.”
MC2 is primarily involved in chartering, ship management, towage and transportation, as well as a variety of offshore services.
