Associated British Ports (ABP) has appointed civil engineering and building firm Britcon to complete the next phase of development at its Grimsby Automotive Terminal (GAT).
Known as the ‘Brexit Terminal’, the development of new car storage facility is expected to nearly double the initial capacity provided on the former Tioxide site.
Recently, Britcon concluded first phase 1a on the 100 acre development in Grimsby to provide vehicle import/export storage facility.
Now, the second phase 1b will focus on developing an additional 8.5 acres on the site.
Similar to the first phase, Britcon will be required to carry out extensive design work with earthworks modelling optimisation for the groundworks and drainage.
ABP Humber director Simon Bird said: “This is a fantastic development for the Port of Grimsby and we’re happy to be working with Britcon to drive this project forward. We look forward to being able to offer an extra 8.5 acres to our automotive customers in this new facility at Grimsby.”
