PSA International business PSA Italy has chosen to procure Eco reachstackers from Finnish cargo handling solutions provider Kalmar.
Under the contract, eight Kalmar Eco reachstackers will be deployed at the PSA Italy-run Genova Pra’ and SECH box terminals, located in the ports of Genoa and Venice, respectively.
Combined, the two terminals manage around two million containers annually.
According to the vendor, the Kalmar Eco reachstacker lowers fuel usage and emissions without hampering productivity by using a smaller engine than conventional solutions.
Furthermore, it is said to enable smoother acceleration and reduce cabin noise.
The equipment will include a fuel-saving guarantee that is projected to boost financial predictability through a fixed level of fuel usage depending on the cargo handling drive cycle.
