All American Marine has secured a contract to build a 74ft catamaran patrol vessel for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW).
With the aim of playing an integral role in patrolling California state waters, as well as international waters along the California coast, the 74ft x 27.5ft overall length (OAL) twin-engine, fixed propeller patrol aluminium vessel will be built to US Coast Guard standards.
The hydrofoil-assisted vessel will have design features necessary for the enforcement of modern maritime law and will be based on Captain Murchison, a vessel built by All American Marine for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
An important feature that will be part of the vessel is New Zealand-based Teknicraft Design’s rapid rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) launching and retrieval system.
Integrated into the stern of the vessel, this system will boost safety and cut down the time and manpower needed to deploy an RHIB. It will enable vessel deployment and retrieval in under one minute.
Further features to be incorporated into the vessel will be a full advanced electronics package, which will include a FLIR M400 XR high-resolution thermal imaging video with tracking to help with patrol duties along the coast of California.

By GlobalDataAll American Marine president and COO Ron Wille said: “We are excited to announce another contract for this innovative build at AAM. Our key mission is to build the most technologically advanced vessels in the world, and we have already started working on this state-of-the-art patrol vessel.
“The custom Teknicraft Rapid RHIB deployment System will be critical to the CDFW’s patrol and conservation efforts, and we are excited for them to utilise it in California Waters.”
The semi-displacement catamaran hull for the vessel has been developed by Nic de Waal of Teknicraft Design.
It will feature a 2,000-gallon fuel capacity, enabling a longer range of use.
