Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) subsidiary Marorka has received a contract from Antarctica21, an Antarctic fly and cruise expedition operator, for the delivery of smart shipping solutions.
Under the contract, Antarctica21’s modern expedition vessel, Magellan Explorer, will be fitted with GTT Digital smart shipping solutions.
The scope of the contract includes the installation of sensors, automatic data collection systems, and intelligent software for the management and optimisation of the vessel’s energy and environmental performance.
Antartica21 president Jaime Vasquez said: “The deployment of this new technology on board Magellan Explorer will allow us to benchmark our energy consumption, thereby assisting us in reducing emissions.”
The GTT Digital platform is anticipated to play a significant role in Antarctica21’s plan to monitor the Carbon Intensity Index (CII).
The platform is also expected to help the company cut down its vessel’s emissions and adhere to the overall Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) regulation.
