Saudi Aramco has entered a deal with a consortium of Saudi Archirodon Company and Huta Hegerfeld to further develop the King Salman International Complex for Maritime Industries and Services in Ras Al-Khair, Saudi Arabia.
The complex will also include shipyard facilities, which will be designed and built by Hyundai Heavy Industries in collaboration with Lamprell, reported Maritime Executive.
The contract will see the consortium perform dredging and reclamation of around 37 million cubic metres of fill, as well as improve 7.4 million square metres of ground area.
In addition, 4,500m of concrete quay walls and wharves are to be built, while 12,000m of rock revetments and breakwaters will also be developed to protect the structure of the complex.
Saudi Aramco Technical Services senior vice-president Ahmed Al-Sa’adi said: “It is an important milestone for King Salman International Complex for Maritime Industries and Services, the largest of its kind in the region.
“The Complex is in line with the Kingdom’s economic diversification objectives. It will position the Kingdom as a strategic logistics hub and will create vast job opportunities.”
