Vard has won a contract from Coral Expeditions to design and build a new expedition cruise vessel for operations in the Asia-Pacific region.
The ship is set to be 93.5m-long and 17.2m-wide, and will accommodate around 120 passengers.
It will be built at Vard Vung Tau yard in Vietnam, with completion currently scheduled for the first quarter of 2019.
Fincantieri has secured a €310m ($370m) deal from Monaco-based company Silversea Cruises for the construction of a new ultra-luxury cruise ship.
The new vessel has been tentatively named Silver Moon and is scheduled to be delivered by 2020.
It will be able to carry up to 596 passengers on-board.

Wärtsilä has been selected by a consortium comprising Belgium-based Victrol and French company CFT known as LNG Shipping to supply a 3,000m³ cargo handling system and cargo tanks for a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker barge.
Wärtsilä is also expected to arrange the cargo on-board the vessel as part of the contract.
The LNG bunker barge is currently under construction in Romania and will be outfitted in the Netherlands.
It is slated to be chartered to Shell Western LNG (Shell) and will operate out of Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
