Wartsila has received orders to deliver its Inert Gas Generator (IGG) systems, along with the latest technology in radio and integrated navigation systems, for six new liquefied natural gas (LNG) Carrier vessels.
The 172,500cbm capacity vessels are being constructed for the Arctic LNG 2 project in Russia’s Arctic waters.
In April, the technology group received the orders from Daewoo Shipbuilding Marine Engineering (DSME), together with options for an additional two plus two vessels.
The Inert Gas Systems (IGS), which supports the safe operation of liquefied gas and oil tankers, will be supplied by Wartsila Gas Solutions.
Under the contract, a multifunction display system comprising workstations with a full set of applications, such as the Wartsila Navi-Sailor Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS), will be installed.
Other applications include Navi-Radar, the Navi-Conning navigation information display system, a Bridge Alert Management System (BAMS) and the Wartsila Navi-Planner for route planning.

The company is expected to deliver the equipment in September.

It also delivered IGS for SCF Group’s crude oil tanker fleet and Arctic LNG Carrier series.
In January, Wartsila Marine Power received an order to deliver 46 dual-fuel engines for the same six LNG carrier vessels.
Recently, the company also announced plans to develop an autonomous intra-port, inter-terminal container barge to reduce container transportation bottlenecks at the Port of Rotterdam.
