Carnival brand Seabourn Cruise Line has received its second ultra-luxury cruise ship from Fincantieri at the shipbuilder’s yard in Sestri, Genoa, Italy.
The newly delivered vessel, Seabourn Ovation, is the sister vessel of Seabourn Encore, which was delivered in 2016.
Seabourn Ovation was built as part of Seabourn Cruise Line’s fleet modernisation programme, which started in 2009.
The 40,350t ship is 210m long and 28m wide. Capable of travelling at a maximum speed of 18.6k, it is designed to accommodate up to 600 guests in 300 all-oceanfront suites with a private veranda.
Seabourn Ovation also features a range of technologies to meet the relevant environment and other regulations.
The Odyssey-class ship was fashioned by hospitality design expert Adam Tihany with contemporary interiors and modern design elements.

By GlobalDataIt is scheduled to begin its maiden journey with an 11-day inaugural trip departing 5 May, from Venice, Italy, to Barcelona, Spain.
Fincantieri CEO Giuseppe Bono said: “Completing such a ship with this level of luxury and complexity is not always an assuming result, and therefore we are very proud of it.
“Furthermore, for us, it is an even more remarkable industrial achievement if we consider that it is the second delivery within a few weeks and that other two units will take the sea from our yards in the coming two months.
“Four cruise ships belonging to different kind of market segments, for three different ship owners: no other shipbuilding group can provide such references and our goal is to further grow and improve.”
Fincantieri has built 82 cruise ships so far and 65 of them were for Carnival’s different brands.
