Sky Princess cruise ship is the fourth Royal-class vessel from operator and owner Princess Cruises.
The vessel incorporates the same design and features introduced on its sister ships Royal Princess, Regal Princess and Majestic Princess, which entered service in 2013, 2014 and 2017 respectively.

Princess Cruises entered an agreement with Fincantieri for the construction of Sky Princess Cruise Ship in December 2015. Construction of the cruise ship was completed in October 2019 at the shipbuilder’s Monfalcone shipyard in Italy. The cruise company’s global ship operations are temporarily suspended in view of the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
Sky Princess cruise ship construction and technical specifications
Construction of the 145,000t Sky Princess cruise ship began in November 2016 with the steel-cutting ceremony of the bow section. The ceremony was held at the Fincantieri shipyard in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy. The section was transported to the Monfalcone shipyard for final assembly.
The 330m-long cruise ship has a moulded beam of 38.4m.
Accommodation on the Sky Princess cruise
The ship features 1,830 guest cabins, which can accommodate 4,610 passengers and 1,411 crewmembers. Staterooms feature contemporary design incorporating luxury beds.
Accommodation categories include 36 suites, 374 mini suites, 1,028 balcony staterooms and 342 inside cabins. The total accommodation capacity of the ship is approximately 6,021 passengers, including crew.
Dining venues on Sky Princess
The cruise ship features a traditional dining room and multiple speciality dining restaurants such as Curtis Stone’s Share, The Salty Dog Gastropub, and Sabatini’s Italian restaurant. Other restaurants on the ship are Crown Grill, Sterling Steakhouse, Chef’s Table, Kai Sushi and Bayon café.
The Share restaurant offers charcuterie, salads, handmade pasta, high-quality meats, and desserts while the Crown Grill serves steaks and premium seafood such as grilled shrimp and lobster.
Entertainment and wellness facilities on Sky Princess
Sky Princess cruise ship features signature elements that are identical to the brand’s best-in-class guest experience. Stand-out features of the Royal-class sister ships were retained on the Sky Princess.
Entertainment facilities on the ship include the Princess Theatre, a Casino, and a Vista Lounge. The 300ft² Movies Under the Stars outdoor poolside theatre is equipped with a 69,000W sound system.
Live performances are hosted on the ship, including Magic to Do, The Voice of the Ocean and Broadway-style production shows. Street entertainers in the piazza, comedy shows, live music bands and a disco deck party are also part of the entertainment facilities.
Leisure facilities include the Sanctuary Spa and the Lotus Spa. These spas offer state-of-the-art equipment and treadmills with ocean views. The Lotus Spa offers a variety of treatments, including manicures, pedicures, detoxifying ocean wraps, and aroma stone therapy massages.
The cruise ship also features entertainment for kids, teens and adults. Destination-themed activities, wine tasting, and culinary demonstrations are available to passengers.
In addition, activities such as Zumba classes, Yoga sessions and Tai Chi can be held on board.
Sky Princess cruise ship propulsion
The propulsion system comprises two 14,400kW Wärtsilä 12V46F engines and two 16,800kW Wärtsilä 14V46F engines. The engines produce a total power output of 62,400kW, with the propulsion system enabling a service speed of 22k.
Itineraries of Sky Princess
The cruise ship set off on its inaugural voyage in October 2019. The ship made its debut in North America in December 2019.
The company cancelled its cruise operations and decided in May 2020 to continue the suspension. As a result, the remaining Europe and Transatlantic cruises on the cruise ship are affected.
