Bangladeshi shipbuilding company Western Marine Shipyard has transported a new-build aluminum body catamaran-type passenger ship to Tanzania.
The newly constructed MV Dar Es Salaam was boarded on another heavy carrier mother vessel for shipping.

With a capacity to carry 300 passengers, the ship will be operated in the inland waterways of Tanzania by the country’s Ministry of Transportation.
The shipbuilder received a contract for the construction of this vessel from Danish company JGH Marine.
The 38m-long vessel will be capable of servicing at a speed of 20k.
With its twin hull, the catamaran-type ship is very safe for voyages and is said to be more stable than other types of vessels, Western Marine stated.

By GlobalDataThe shipyard started construction of this vessel in September 2013 and the cost of the project was BDT250m ($3.1m).
During a visit by Tanzania delegates to Western Marine Shipyard, chairman Saiful Islam stated that Africa is a big market for the Bangladesh shipbuilding industry.
Previously, the company constructed a similar type of catamaran ship for Chittagong Boat Club and is currently building one offshore patrol vessel for Kenya, which is expected to be delivered in 2016.
