Germany’s Meyer Werft has started construction on Norwegian Cruise Line’s new Breakaway Plus vessel, Norwegian Bliss, with a steel cutting ceremony at its shipyard in Papenburg.
The 165,600gt and 324m-long ship will be able to accommodate 4,200 guests, based on double occupancy, and can cruise at a speed of 22.5k.
The luxury vessel will feature several options across different areas within the cruise for families.
In addition, the ship will have studios situated throughout the ship to accommodate single travellers. Passengers will also avail other facilities onboard, including a wellness centre in an exclusive area called The Haven.
Norwegian Cruise Line president Andy Stuart said: “On behalf of the more than 20,000 Norwegian team members worldwide, we are thrilled to mark the start of construction of the second ship in our company’s Breakaway Plus class and the continued evolution of the Norwegian brand.”
