Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has selected Climeon’s heat power system Climeon Ocean to provide energy efficient solutions.
Fincantieri has purchased six Climeon Ocean 450M systems, which will be fitted into its upcoming cruise ships. The total capacity on all ships is up to 2.7MW.
Fincantieri is claimed to be the first shipbuilder to have contracted for the installation of Climeon Ocean into its new cruise ships.
Delivery of the equipment is slated to start next year.
Climeon marine sales head Johan Larson said: "For Climeon this order is a major step into the important cruise ship business.
"Energy and environmental savings are important factors for the future of the cruise ship business; we therefore see a lot of customer interests in our solutions."
