Germany’s Vertom-Bojen Bereederungs has selected Norway-based DNV GL’s ShipManager integrated fleet management software to improve cost efficiency, process optimisation and quality of operations for a fleet of 41 vessels.

The integrated ShipManager suite, which includes ShipManager Technical; procurement; project, quality, health, safety and environment (QHSE); and crewing and analyser for BI / fleet analytics, will be implemented by Vertom-Bojen.

The latest version of ShipManager includes a safety management reporting module with a new and flexible user interface.

DNV GL noted that when Vertom and Bojen Reederei formed the new entity Vertom-Bojen, their fleet included vessels that were using different software setups and were not integrated.

Data was collected by different software, but the system was not streamlined to help the management team in making decisions.

Therefore, the Vertom-Bojen management team decided not to use several different software systems to manage one fleet.

Using different software for one single purpose can also be expensive, inefficient and can lead to communication challenges between vessels and onshore management.

Currently, Vertom-Bojen has a fleet of mini bulkers, general cargo vessels and multi-purpose vessels.

Vertom provides in-house chartering for Vertom-Bojen with 80 vessels in chartering.

In May, DNV GL had entered into a partnership agreement with MAC Solutions to cooperate in fleet performance management services.

Under the deal, DNV GL will include information from MAC’s onboard data collection system ‘SDBnet’ into its ECO Insight solution, which will offer fleet performance analytics based on MAC onboard data.
