Germany-based shipping company Oldendorff has purchased eight vessels, including three Babycapes and five Post-panamax bulk carriers, to expand its fleet.
Acquired from companies managed by Hartmann Reederei and Thomas Schulte, the vessels have joined Oldendorff’s three other Babycape vessels, which were bought last year.
Built at Sinopacific, China, the Babycape vessels are equipped with Mewis fuel saving ducts, ballast water treatment systems, as well as Korean built B&W main engines and auxiliary engines.
Featuring a 119,000 deadweight tonnage (tdw) capacity, the vessels have draft cargo intake of 14.5m.
Oldendorff said that all the three new Babycape vessels have completed their first special survey.
Currently, the company’s London, UK-based unit operates around 30 vessels across its global trade route.
