Ocean insights provider Miros has introduced a new wave and vessel motion prediction technology known as PredictifAI.
This new solution offers real-time, deterministic predictions of ocean waves and vessel movements, enabling to improve the safety of maritime operations.
PredictifAI leverages artificial intelligence (AI) in conjunction with X-band radar and precise local wave height measurements. This combination results in a monitoring solution that automatically adjusts to changing sea and weather conditions.
The technology is built upon Miros’ WaveSystem, which integrates different measurement sources to function reliably across various sea states.
The new technology aims to reduce the uncertainties associated with statistical wave estimates, helping to provide accuracy for the management of critical maritime operations.
Miros CTO Gunnar Prytz said: “By combining AI with site-specific sea state measurements in real-time, we are giving vessel operators the power to see into the immediate future, enabling them to make informed decisions and manage critical operations with unprecedented confidence.”

By GlobalDataPredictifAI is claimed to eliminate the need for calibration, modelling, or any form of vessel twin representation, as it autonomously generates its own digital twin.
This technology is expected to benefit a wide range of offshore activities, from wind turbine installations to cable laying and diving support operations, by offering advanced wave and motion insights for better decision-making and risk management.
Furthermore, PredictifAI’s capabilities extend to enhancing dynamic positioning systems by providing operators with advanced notice of approaching waves and their potential impact on vessel motion.
This feature is crucial for operations that require precise positioning, such as the connection of gangways or the launch of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).
Miros CEO Marius Five Aarset said: “For 40 years, Miros has been a pioneer in high-quality ocean technology, relentlessly pushing boundaries to enhance the efficiency and safety of offshore operations without compromising quality. With PredictifAI it is no different and this is the next step in this development.
“PredictifAI is a further demonstration of our commitment to staying ahead of the wave, inspiring confidence that will shape the future of the sector.”
